We all support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second thought. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up until September, I had actually been much like you. Triggering to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to make with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. Then, I established a problem with my knee. A semi-serious issue. It didn't stop me from doing most things, I could walk, run, and climb, but it did stop me from driving, and that in turn stopped me from working. I signed up with the ranks of the long-lasting sick, continued to receive my paycheque, and sat and took it easy. The first couple of weeks were fine I. managed to get all the little tasks that pile up done. In the 3rd week, a malaise started to sneak in. I had nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I began to get depressed.

We have a no smoking policy in our house, imposed on the majority (me & my father) by the minority (my mother). From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's home and the fronts of two houses across the street. I began to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I typically walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would disrupt me now, and say that many ladies at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you don't understand the half of everything. I think it's time I provided you a total photo of our street and the people who live on it. It will can be found in useful later on. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and after that beside that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage boys.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. She recently separated from her hubby and remains in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I haven't presented myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I cope with my mum Chrissie (45) and papa Bob (52 ). Next along are some newbies. At this time in November, I didn't know their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Naturally, whenever I spoke to them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my understanding. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City. I never spoke with him, although what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I mention him.
