We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second idea. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who stroll past the home. I started with a friendly hey there and progressed to the point where I typically walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would interrupt me now, and say that the majority of ladies at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other females. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and after that next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish woman in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. She recently separated from her spouse and remains in the procedure of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen daughters Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I haven't presented myself yet, so now would be a great time.
