All of us support this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a second thought. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up till September, I had been similar to you. Triggering to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to finish with the day instead of what my neighbours would depend on. Then, I established a problem with my knee. A semi-serious problem. It didn't stop me from doing most things, I could walk, run, and climb, but it did stop me from driving, and that in turn stopped me from working. I joined the ranks of the long-lasting ill, continued to get my paycheque, and sat and took it easy. The first few weeks were fine I. managed to get all the little jobs that accumulate done. In the third week, a despair began to sneak in. I had nothing to do, no place to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I began to get depressed.

We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, imposed on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). This implies that whenever we want to smoke, we need to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two homes across the street. After cigarette smoking practically continually when the depression embeded in, I began to see the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who stroll past your house. I began with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and say that a lot of ladies in the house do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't understand the half of it all. I think it's time I offered you a total image of our street and the people who reside on it. It will can be found in helpful later on. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and then beside that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this website is the detached home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage children.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City.
