We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a second thought. November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and say that many females at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other ladies. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then beside that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly very first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this site is the detached home where Steve and Mandy deal with their two teenage children. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
