We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a 2nd idea. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. After smoking cigarettes almost continuously when the anxiety embeded in, I started to observe the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women went about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who stroll past the home. I started with a friendly hi and advanced to the point where I typically walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would interrupt me now, and state that the majority of ladies at house do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and after that beside that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this website is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
