We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second thought. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. After smoking cigarettes nearly constantly when the depression set in, I began to see the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they headed out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of individuals who walk past your home. I began with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and say that many females at home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and two, you don't know the half of it all. I think it's time I gave you a total photo of our street and the people who live on it. It will can be found in beneficial in the future. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and after that next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is always first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish woman in her 60's. Then last on this site is the detached house where Steve and Mandy cope with their two teenage kids. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
