We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without providing it a 2nd idea. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the house. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would disrupt me now, and say that a lot of women at home do what I do, talk and stop with the other females. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and after that next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this website is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage kids. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
