We have a no smoking policy in our home, imposed on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mother). This suggests that whenever we wish to smoke, we have to stand at the back entrance. From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. After smoking nearly continually when the anxiety set in, I started to observe the comings and goings of the people in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women went about their daily regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past your house. I began with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I usually stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and say that the majority of females in your home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have two replies. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this website is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage sons. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we start with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her husband and is in the procedure of moving. She remains in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I cope with my mum Chrissie (45) and dad Bob (52 ). Next along are some newbies. At this time in November, I didn't know their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. I never ever spoke to him, even though what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I mention him.
