We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second idea. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies set about their everyday regimens.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of people would interrupt me now, and state that a lot of women at home do what I do, stop and chat with the other women. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and after that next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy cope with their 2 teenage sons. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. She just recently separated from her partner and remains in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has 2 pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our house. I haven't presented myself yet, so now would be a great time. I'm John (28 ), and I deal with my mum Chrissie (45) and dad Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't know their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. I never spoke to him, despite the fact that what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I mention him.
