We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a doubt. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up up until September, I had been just like you. I had absolutely nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to eliminate. I started to get depressed.

We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our home, imposed on the majority (me & my daddy) by the minority (my mom). From here, you can see the entryway to our neighbour's house and the fronts of 2 houses across the street. I began to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they sat in the garden.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of people would disrupt me now, and say that most ladies at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other ladies. It's a very little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant house, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the removed home where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. She just recently separated from her partner and remains in the process of moving. She is in her mid 30's and has two pre-teen children Emma and Becky. Next is our home. I have not introduced myself yet, so now would be a good time. I'm John (28 ), and I cope with my mum Chrissie (45) and papa Bob (52 ). Next along are some newcomers. At this time in November, I didn't understand their names, so-called them Dick and Helen to myself. Obviously, whenever I talked to them, I used terms like a neighbour to bridge this gap in my understanding. They were a couple, in their late 30's, early 40's, and they seemed to keep themselves to themselves. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City. I never talked to him, despite the fact that what I'm about to tell you, so this is the last time I mention him.
