All of us go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a doubt. Here's where I differ from the rest of you. Up till September, I had been much like you. I had nothing to do, nowhere to go, and loads of time to kill. I began to get depressed.

We have a no smoking policy in our home, imposed on the majority (me & my dad) by the minority (my mom). This means that whenever we wish to smoke, we need to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two houses across the street. After cigarette smoking almost continually when the anxiety set in, I began to see the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I began to pick up on when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females set about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who stroll past the house. I started with a friendly hey there and advanced to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would disrupt me now, and say that a lot of ladies in your home do what I do, chat and stop with the other women. I have two replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you don't understand the half of everything. I think it's time I gave you a complete picture of our street and the people who live on it. It will be available in helpful in the future. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 removed (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited home, and after that next to that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Last on this site is the detached house where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage boys.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
