With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I normally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat.
