We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a 2nd thought. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. After cigarette smoking nearly continuously when the anxiety set in, I began to notice the comings and goings of the people in the street. I started to detect when the mums walked their kids to school when they came back when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these women set about their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with the majority of the people who walk past your home. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I typically stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would disrupt me now, and state that a lot of females in the house do what I do, stop and talk with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and 2, you don't understand the half of it all. I think it's time I gave you a total picture of our street and individuals who reside on it. It will come in useful later. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 separated (that's 5 structures in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a uninhabited house, and then beside that is. Next up is Graham's home, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this website is the removed house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage sons.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our home. Last on the row was a chap who worked somewhere in the City.
