We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without offering it a 2nd thought. Setting off to work every day, concerned more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the canine for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself unconsciously having a cigarette when these women went about their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the individuals who stroll past the home. I started with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I normally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. A lot of individuals would interrupt me now, and state that many females at home do what I do, stop and talk with the other ladies. It's a very small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 removed (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any chatter. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish female in her 60's. Then last on this site is the separated house where Steve and Mandy deal with their two teenage kids. They remain in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
