After cigarette smoking nearly continually when the depression embeded in, I began to discover the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to pick up on when the mums walked their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the individuals who stroll past the house. I started with a friendly hi and progressed to the point where I generally stroll down to the garden gate and have a chat. On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked somewhere in the City.
