We all go along with this, moving through the days, weeks, and years without giving it a second idea. Setting off to work every day, worried more about what I was going to do with the day rather than what my neighbours would be up to. It didn't stop me from doing most things, I might stroll, run, and climb, but it did stop me from driving, and that in turn stopped me from working.

We have a no smoking cigarettes policy in our house, enforced on the majority (me & my father) by the minority (my mom). This means that whenever we want to smoke, we have to stand at the back door. From here, you can see the entrance to our neighbour's house and the fronts of two homes across the street. After smoking cigarettes almost constantly when the depression embeded in, I began to notice the comings and goings of individuals in the street. I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they went out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they beinged in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies went about their day-to-day routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with most of the people who stroll past the house. I started with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I usually walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Most people would interrupt me now, and say that many females in your home do what I do, talk and stop with the other women. I have 2 replies. One, I'm male, and two, you do not understand the half of it all. I believe it's time I offered you a total picture of our street and the people who reside on it. It will be available in helpful later on. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then beside that is. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this website is the detached house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage children.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's house. Next is our house. Last on the row was a chap who worked someplace in the City.
