I started to detect when the mums strolled their kids to school when they returned when they headed out shopping, when they took the pet dog for a walk, and when they sat in the garden. With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the regular times and I would find myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these females set about their daily routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the individuals who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I typically walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. The majority of people would interrupt me now, and state that the majority of women at home do what I do, chat and stop with the other ladies. It's a really little street, 8 semi-detached homes and 1 detached (that's 5 structures in all). Next is Sheila's home, she's a big Irish lady in her 60's. Last on this site is the separated home where Steve and Mandy live with their 2 teenage boys.

On the right-hand side of the road, we begin with Linda's home. Next is our home. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
