With absolutely nothing else to do, my mind filed away the routine times and I would discover myself subconsciously having a cigarette when these ladies tackled their everyday routines.

November, and by now I'm on speaking terms with many of the people who walk past the house. I began with a friendly hello and progressed to the point where I generally walk down to the garden gate and have a chat. Many people would interrupt me now, and say that most women at house do what I do, stop and talk with the other females. It's a really small street, 8 semi-detached houses and 1 separated (that's 5 buildings in all). Down the left side (as you stand at the top of the street) there is a vacant home, and then next to that is. where Jody lives. She's a 70 odd-year-old widower, who is constantly first with any gossip. Next up is Graham's house, he's in his 50's. Next is Sheila's house, she's a huge Irish lady in her 60's. Then last on this website is the detached house where Steve and Mandy live with their two teenage kids. They are in their late 30's.

On the right-hand side of the roadway, we start with Linda's home. Next is our house. Last on the row was a bloke who worked someplace in the City.
